About this course

In A1 German, you learn to understand and use basic phrases, introduce yourself, ask and answer simple questions, and handle everyday situations in German.

What you will learn

• Negation (nicht, kein)
• Modal verbs (können, müssen, wollen – in simple contexts)
• Simple questions (W-questions: wer, was,wen, wo, wann; and yes/no questions)
• Word order (main clauses, basic inversion with questions)
• Prepositions (am, im, mit, zu, etc. – in simple phrases)
• Possessive pronouns (mein, dein, sein, etc.)
• Perfekt Tense

Listening

• Understand familiar words and simple sentences (e.g. announcements, short conversations)
• Topics: at the supermarket, public transport, phone messages, etc.

Reading

• Match advertisements and notices
• Emails, short personal messages or a postcard
• Short paragraph or public information

Writing

• Fill out forms (name, address, etc.)
• Write a short message or email (e.g. invitation, apology, thank you note)

Speaking

• Part 1: Introduce yourself (name, origin, age, profession)
• Part 2: Ask and answer simple questions (e.g. about hobbies, food, daily life, travel, work)
• Part 3: Make requests, respond to prompts (using pictures/word cards)
